Backwaters: a film made about missing children in the land of God

Based on a series of missing children from Kerala – the film shows how even God is unaware of what happened to missing children in his own country – specifically the missing case of Rahul Raju – a seven year old child who went missing in May 2005 and has never been found.

Film producer Suunil Jaiin of (SJP), AGFS of Ashish Arjun Gaikar and Sunshine Studios of Ankit Chandiramani – a leading film distribution and production house – have announced a film about the missing children of Kerala. The investigative thriller delving into the mysterious world of trafficking in children and missing children is titled Backwaters and ihelmed by FTII graduate Abhinav Thakur.
Based on a series of missing children from Kerala – the film shows how even God is unaware of what happened to missing children in his own country – specifically the missing case of Rahul Raju – a seven year old child who went missing in May 2005 and has never been found.
Delhi theater actor Sartaazh Khari will try out the role of CBI agent investigating the case while UK model Neeta Paryani will try out the role of investigative journalist leading a concurrent investigation. âWe found Sartaazh to be suitable for the role. We explore all angles of how the children went missing and how a savvy CBI officer exploring the case considers all eventualities, but is unable to resolve a single one. Journalists also played an important role in this case and Neeta was perfect for the scribe who does his own research and investigation of missing children cases, âThakur says.
Sartaazh met with several senior CBI officials to prepare for his role and understand the work and mindset of the men in khaki who run India’s first investigative institution and Neeta also met with reporters who followed the ‘case.
âThe marshy park from which Rahul disappeared remains closed to the public even today. There are so many unanswered questions, including from parents who want to know where Rahul is today? »Choir Suunil Jaiin and Ashish Gaikar.
Co-producer S Ramachandran adds that the film will hit floors by the end of the year in real locations in the backwaters of Alappuzha, Kerala.
