Liverpool’s online store collapses after new kit release

Liverpool today launched their new kit for the 2022/23 season, and demand has exploded.

As seen in an article by a journalist Kevin Palmer on Twitter, the queue to pre-order the new jersey was 42 minutes this morning. Once completed, the transaction must be completed within 10 minutes or your place in the queue will be lost.

As with previous editions, the new home kit comes in two different offerings. There’s a cheaper one for casual wear, as well as a replica of the jersey worn by players on the pitch.

According to Nike via liverpoolfc.com, the design of the jersey is inspired by “Scouse solidarity”. You can pre-order the shirt for the May 19 release now, but you might have to be patient!

Everybody wants a piece of the Reds

Liverpool couldn’t really have timed the new version better. The club’s popularity is at an all-time high after quite a sensational season.

The Reds qualified for the Champions League final for the third time in five seasons this week.

Of course, Liverpool’s popularity is such that they could sell shirts anytime, anywhere. But with an unprecedented four-fold still on the cards this season, everyone seems to want to feel like he’s a part of what the Reds are up to.

Liverpool’s relatively new partnership with Nike will see the kit reach more stores than before.

With FSG also reportedly in talks over a bumper new shirt sponsorship deal (The Daily Mail), the club’s merchandise arm appears to be in poor health for some time to come.

On the ground will obviously help with this. But it’s yet another reminder of the quality of the club’s follow-up.
