Meenoo’s reopened its main store in Rakiraki with more people employed.
The rebuilt store cost more than $ 1.5 million.
They rebuilt it while they were operating from another location.
It took them five years to rebuild the store from a temporary location.
The store manager, Rizwan Mohammed, said he was happy that this investment will provide more jobs.
“We had to hire more staff for the team. The last store was small but this one is huge and we needed more hands.
“We now have 18 employees.” Mr. Mohammed added that before, many people had to travel to Ba, Lautoka, Nadi and Suva to get better choices of home items and clothing.
He now hopes that they save that money and use it at the Rakiraki store.
About the store
Meenoo’s Rakiraki store is a two story building and offers a variety of choices from baby clothes and supplies to formal wear and fine fabrics.
“It is offered at a very affordable price.”
“We encourage the people of Rakiraki to spend their money here as it contributes to the economy of the small town,” said the store manager for five years.
Mr Mohammed said they had not sent any staff home and were fortunate that Rakiraki did not feel the severity of the pandemic like other towns.
He asks, although the situation is more lax, that customers be vigilant, wear a mask and turn on the careFIJI application.
“We cannot take risks and we must all do our part and follow the instructions given by the competent authorities.”
