Xenoblade Chronicles 3 pre-orders crash Nintendo’s online store
Nintendo has opened pre-orders for the Xenoblade Chronicles 3 special edition pack four hours ago. But since then, the online store has been unstable as people rush to drop cash on the collectible.
“We apologize for any inconvenience you may experience when pre-ordering the Xenoblade Chronicles 3 special edition”, official Nintendo Twitter account says less than 30 minutes after pre-orders open this morning. “The My Nintendo Store is experiencing a high volume of traffic and we appreciate your patience while we investigate the issue.”
The store list linked by Nintendo displays a similar message, warning customers that they have been placed in a queue and will be removed if they refresh or close the page. Some claim they sat on the page for over an hour without any movement, while others mention that the short animation loop freezes and leaves them confused as to their status.
Moreover, those who manage to reach the Xenoblade Chronicles 3 the special edition listing often finds the pre-order button grayed out and non-functional. A few lucky fans were apparently able to put the item in their basket early on, but couldn’t check out. Regardless of the case, however, the outrage towards Nintendo is palpable as people just want to buy the game and get on with their day.
“You can’t just sell waifu artbooks and not 100x your server capacity up front,” someone joked on the Xenoblade Chronicles subreddit.
“I’m pissed,” comments ResetEra of a particularly diehard fan Explain. “I have a suit Xeno collection. All standards, all collectors. I’m starting to think I won’t be able to grab this one the normal way. I absolutely do not support resellers.
As for what’s in the lotthe biggest deal seems to be the aforementioned “waifu artbook”, a hardcover color tome with over 250 pages of Xenoblade Chronicles 3 masterpieces. It also includes a steel case and a box containing a special composition by series character designer Masatsugu Saito.
Xenoblade Chronicles 3 will launch on Switch on July 29. Hopefully Nintendo doesn’t make these rabid fans wait too long, or things could go horribly wrong.
